Cecy Robson's "A Cursed Embrace" Cover Reveal

Synopsis
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other twentysomething girls—with one tiny exception: They are the products of a curse that backfired and gave each of them unique powers that made them, well, a little weird.…
After Celia Wird and her sisters help master vampire Misha save his family, their powers are exposed to the supernatural community of the Lake Tahoe region. But fame comes at a price, and being “weird” isn’t always welcome.
To make matters worse, Celia desires the love of Alpha werewolf Aric, but his pack is bent on destroying their relationship to preserve his pureblood status. And once weres start turning up dead—with evidence pointing to the vampires—she must face the prospect of losing Aric forever. But the chaos only makes a new threat. An evil known as the Tribe has risen—and their sights are set on Celia and her sisters.

AUTHOR BIO:

Cecy (pronounced Sessy) Robson is an author with Penguin's SIGNET ECLIPSE. She attributes her passion for story-telling back to the rough New Jersey neighborhood she was raised in. As a child, she was rarely allowed to leave the safety of her house and passed her time fantasizing about flying, fairies, and things that go bump in the night. Her dad unwittingly encouraged Cecy's creativity by kissing her goodnight wearing vampire fangs. Gifted and cursed with an overactive imagination, she began writing her Urban Fantasy Romance Series, Weird Girls, in May 2009. THE WEIRD GIRLS: A Novella and SEALED WITH A CURSE are now available. The second novel in The Weird Girls Series, A CURSED EMBRACE, releases July 2, 2013.

Waiting on Wednesday 02/26/2013

"Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at “Breaking the Spine”, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This weeks feature is....Reboot by Amy Tintera!

Why am I waiting on this other than the obvious reason that I love the synopsis
and it's yet another fantastic release by Harper Collins?!

Synopsis

La Femme Nikita meets Maximum Ride in this action-packed debut novel about seventeen-year-old Wren, who rose from the dead as a Reboot and is now the government's top soldier-until she is given an order she refuses to obey.

Wren Connolly died when she was twelve years old. She woke up 178 minutes later as a Reboot. The longer a Reboot is dead, the stronger and less human she becomes when she returns-making Wren 178 the perfect weapon.

Callum 22, on the other hand, is practically still human. He's the worst trainee Wren has ever had, yet there is something about him that makes her feel alive. When Callum refuses to follow a direct order, Wren is commanded to eliminate him. She has never disobeyed before, but now she'll do whatever it takes to save Callum's life.

Wren's voice is captivating, and readers will be swept up in her unlikely romance and glued to the page as she and Callum fight to survive in this dark, alternate world. The first in a two-book series from debut novelist Amy Tintera, Reboot is perfect for fans of Divergent and Legend.

Top 10 Tuesday # 1

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke & The Bookish

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

Top Ten Authors That I'd Put On My Auto-Buy List (basically an auto-buy list is no questions asked..you love this author so much that no matter what they wrote next you'd buy regardless of genre or subject matter)

1. Kristen Painter - writes the series House of Comarre. Unfortunately, the last book called "Last Blood" will be releasing this year. This is a fantastic series by a fantastic writer who I would encourage more people to follow.

2. Kelly Meding - another writer who really needs to have more followers. I LOVE her Dreg City series and can't wait until the fifth book in the series comes out later this year. She also writes the MetaWars series and has 3 books to her credit in that series.

3. Kelly Gay/Kelly Keaton - Writes the Charlie Madigan series which I'm not sure is over and done, or just waiting for the publisher to give her the green light to continue writing. Kelly is an awesome writer. I love that she writes a YA series under Kelly Keaton called Gods & Monsters which will see the third release coming out this year!

4. Caitlin Kittredge writes two series called Black London and a YA series called Iron Codex. Her Black London series is pretty dark and filled with all sorts of supernatural creatures. Iron Codex could be considered YA Steampunk. Both series are really good!

5. Cat Adams - This is actually a writing duo that puts together a series called the Blood Singer. Currently, The Eldritch Legacy is currently out for sale. I like this series because you never know what to expect from the lead character.

6. Darynda Jones writes two series; One, of course, is Charley Davidson and adult paranormal romance series that has lots of fun. I love the main character as well as her sidekick. She also writes a YA series called Darlight. This series just got started, and it normally takes a few books to catch my interest.

7. Diana Rowland is a must have on my list. She is currently writing two series. Kara Gillian and the White Trash Zombie series. I love Kara! I also find the White Trash series to be a fun ride with lots of action and adventure.

8. Gini Koch is one of those writers I've been following from the first book onward. I love Kitty Katt as well as the secondary characters. I love that this is a science fiction novel with brevity and a bit of comedy thrown in for good measure.

9. Ilona Andrews is a must to have on any list. How can you have a top 10 list without Kate Daniels on it? Seriously, you can't. I was happy to see that this series has been given a fresh breath with more books due to come out in the coming years.

10. Jennifer Estep is also on my list for two series. Her Elemental Assassin series actually gets better with age! She also writes a YA series called Mythos Academy. Both lead characters are unique and have different abilities. I love them both.

Honorable mention: Jenna Black, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Jess Haines, Jocelyn Drake, Jeaniene Frost, Kristen Callihan, Amanda Carlson, Cecy Robson, Amanda Bonilla, Amanda Stevens.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

Question of the Week:

We always talk about books that WE want. Let's turn it on its head.
What books have you given other people lately?
Answer:

I am a supporter of my local library. I donate boxes and boxes and boxes
of books over the course of a year. In fact, I just donated some books that
are going to be used in a warehouse book sale this month! Hopefully, someone
will enjoy them as much as I did!

Love to see your answers.
Please leave me your link and I shall return your visit asap!

Thank you for visiting and have a great weekend!

Early Review - Wicked Kiss by Michelle Rowan

*Review*

In attempting to put together a review that is not all mumble and jumble and without facts about why I liked or didn’t like this book, I came to the realization that I'm actually quite disappointed in the fact that this was only a duology and not a trilogy. Then I realized that this isn’t the first time that Rowan has written a duology. The first time happened during the Nightshade series. I guess it is better, in a way, to end a series after two books then continuing on, and on, and on, until you lose numerous followers along the way.

Wicked Kiss picks up where Dark Kiss left off and pretty much ties up most, if not all of the loose ends. The series features 17 year old Samantha Day known as gray girl because of events that happened in Dark Kiss. Wicked Kiss reveals some secrets including the true identity of SETH and why he continues to appear whenever Sam finds herself in a difficult situation. It also uncovers the truth behind why Bishop became an angel and not a demon like his brother Kraven.

Wicked Kiss also adds yet another Angel, Cassandra to the storyline. Cass has a secret and a mission all her own which may or may not conflict with riding the City of Trinity of all the remaining grays. Of course, she's not the only angel/demon who kept secrets to themselves and away from the little misfit of demon/angels who were sent to Trinity to save it from the Grays. I found myself intrigued by Bishops past history and why he ended up as an Angel and not a demon like his brother Kraven. I also found myself liking Kraven even though clearly he has an agenda when it comes to his own brother and his feelings towards Sam.

Samantha remains one of the more sarcastic heroines you will meet and also one of the more fearless and brave at heart. She truly doesn’t listen to anyone other than her nagging conscious which tells her that Bishop is her partner in crime and she will do everything and anything to prove it to him even if it means sacrificing herself for the cause. As a nexus, or connection between Heaven and Hell, Samantha has some unique powers all her own. She has the ability to see spotlights which signals the arrival of a demon, or angel onto the scene in the city of Trinity. Sam is also quite driven to find a way to release her best friend Carly from the Hollow a place where her real father, a demon, and mother, an angel ended up.

Another reason that I am sad to see this series end after only two books is the participation of Jordan Fitzpatrick to the storyline. Jordan, Sam’s nemesis ever since she was caught “kissing” Stephen in Dark Kiss, offers another unique view of what’s happening to the characters that are trying to save Trinity. Jordan even has her own unique abilities which come in handy from time to time. Maybe we can hope for a Jordan spin-off in the future? Probably not.

Wicked Kiss is a dark novel at times due to the nature of the war between the demons/angels and those who are considered gray. There are hidden dangers throughout the book and startling revelations that throw our characters for a loop. In the end, Wicked Kiss could have been the middle book of a trilogy, but instead ties up almost all the story lines in a nice little bow and offers it up for dinner.

This weeks selection is...The Registry by Shannon Stoker
Paperback, 336 pages

Synopsis

It's a brave new world in America-a world where young women are breeders, and the prettiest go to the highest bidders-in this debut New Adult series for fans of Divergent and Beautiful Disaster
Everyone knows The Registry saved America from collapse. Which is why girls are raised to be brides auctioned off to the highest bidder, and boys are raised by the government to be hardened soldiers. Everyone accepts this as their patriotic duty, except for two girls who are determined to find a way out.
Mia has been dreading her eighteenth birthday for as long as she can remember. It marks her coming of age and the time for her appraisal as a potential bride. She's one of the pretty ones, and she passes her appraisal with flying colors. She's what every man desires-beautiful and sheltered. Snapped up in record time with her parents' blessing for more money than she ever imagined, Mia will not succumb to this life. She escapes with her best friend Whitney, who's been on the marriage block with no takers for a year and will end up a slave working for the government if no one chooses to marry her. After tricking Mia's father's farmhand-with his dark, stormy eyes-into helping them, the three are soon running for their lives, with government agents, bounty hunters, and Mia's intended hot on their heels. They'll make it to Mexico, where a free if uncertain future awaits-or die trying.
